I’ve no time to update the events page so I’m posting a quick update here.
1. Sturgeon Recovery talk date moved
Easter didn’t seem a great time to be holding meetings, so Cory Williamson’s talk on Sturgeon recovery has been postponed, with a probable new date of May 12. If this date is a serious clash with other events, please let me know. The actual sturgeon spawning will be taking place sometime around 26 May.
2. Trip Leaders Workshop
I’m also wondering about the timing of Mike Nash’s Trip Leader workshop, planned for the coming Saturday (April 30). If you intend to take part, please let me know ASAP so we can confirm the event. If you’d like to take part, but can’t make this date, again let me know so that a time suitable to everyone can be found.
3. Nature leaders needed
And talking of trip leaders – too few children are being introduced to nature, so the Community Forest Advisory Council are putting together an opportunity for students grades 3-7 to have a day in nature at Forests for the World. They plan to offer four different dates in May and June, but need volunteers as instructors/leaders. These walks would be on weekdays from 9 am until 2:30 pm and would involve a pond study. If willing, contacted Cathy Fortin at 250 962 2384 or email@example.com .
4. Spring sightings
There’s a huge amount of wildlife action going on at the moment. If you’d like daily reports and photographs of what club members are seeing, subscribe to firstname.lastname@example.org. It’s not just about birds – the last few days’ discussions, for instance, cover sightings of yellow-bellied marmots and woodchucks, comments on the dearth of porcupines, and spring sightings of bears.
