1. Second Trip Leaders Primer opportunity
For members who missed the Club’s first leaders’ primer held last Saturday, there is another opportunity coming up on Saturday May 14. This is a strong recommendation – I’d hate to see the club revert to being moribund because too few people step forward to help with the action. It is certainly not necessary to take this primer to lead a PGNC field trip, but it is beneficial, helping with confidence and practical knowledge.

Details:
The Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Club has extended an invitation to PGNC members to attend their leaders’ workshop: Caledonia Ramblers Hiking Club Trip Leader Primer Training Day – Saturday May 14, 2011 from 10:00 to 2:30 at Forest for the World (meet at the main parking lot). This is an event for potential leaders, those with some experience, and for veterans. The morning session will cover trip schedules, waivers, insurance and trip planning. Lunch at FFTW / under the shelter. For the afternoon session, Lauren Phillips and Dean Price from OVERhang Education Center will focus on Group Management and Wilderness Emergency Management and Evacuation. Please contact Nowell for pre-registration: 250-562-7485 or bestleftjab58@yahoo.ca

2. Presentation: 50 Tips for Great Wildlife Photography, Thursday, May 19
This joint presentation with the UNBC Biology Club will be in 7-158 at UNBC, and will be followed on May 21 with a Club photographic field trip to Rosebud Mountain. Rosebud offers a large number of photographic opportunities – a short trip last week yielded shots of moose, deer, woodchuck, and sharp-tailed grouse among others, and the roses should be in bloom.

3. Flickr site for photos
If you have any photos you’d like to upload, note that the club has a site at:

4. Getting on to ncenbird
There’s lot of discussion going on at the moment through the club’s listserver. If you’d like to take part – be warned that there are usually several messages a day – here are the instructions:
Send email to majordomo@bcgroup.net
In body of message write But without the brackets.
