PGNC Executive 2023

The PGNC Executive consists of seven directors. They serve until the 2024 Annual General meeting.

President: Angelina Joiner

The President acts as the primary spokesperson for the Club, although they may call on another member who may have more knowledge to speak on a given issue. The President acts as a signing officer, and chairs most meetings and otherwise provides guidance and advice to the Executive and the Club membership at large. Chairing a Club Executive meeting is a good experience because a small Executive like the PGNC can provide a friendly, more informal learning environment. (It’s not essential to follow Robert’s Rules exactly so long as the basics are covered.) Chairing the Annual General Meeting is a bit more formal and requires following specific steps – but the President is supported by numerous individuals as needed, and ‘learning on the job’ is to be expected.

Vice-President: Caitlin Zvanovec

The Vice-President chairs Executive meetings when the President is not available, or at the request of the President. The VP is a signing officer.

Secretary: Diana Corona Castro

The Secretary issues notices of meetings, conducts general correspondence and keeps a record of Club proceedings. The Secretary also distributes minutes of Executive meetings and General Meetings. Documents are circulated by email to Executive meetings. Paper copies are provided to members at the Annual General Meeting. The Secretary is a signing officer.

Treasurer: Sandra Kinsey

Receives all monies, makes all authorized payments and keeps financial records. Presents books and records for an annual audit or review at the end of the fiscal year. Submits an annual financial statement at the Annual General Meeting, and reports on the state of finances of the Club at the General Meetings and the Executive meetings. Submits a written report if unable to attend these meetings. Maintains the Club membership roll. The Treasurer is a signing officer.

BC Nature Director: Dave Leman

Represents the Club at meetings or other proceedings of the Federation of BC Naturalists (BC Nature).

Directors who are not officers: Cara Snell and Madison Oud.

All directors apply their skills and knowledge to support Club business and activities. In past years, directors have organized social events, speakers’ nights and field trips, or have worked on Club brochures.

Reports to Annual General Meetings

The Executive submits reports to every AGM to summarize the Club’s activities the previous year. The reports cover the years since the Club’s revitalization in 2011. There are no reports for 2020 and 2021 because Annual General Meetings were cancelled due to the pandemic.
